Abstract

The study aims to investigate the effectiveness of a developed unit based on National Natural Sciences Standards in chemistry curriculum for the first year of secondary school in developing successful intelligence skills. The study used the descriptive analytical approach and the experimental approach in a quasi-experimental design. The proposed study unit and the successful intelligence test were prepared by the researchers - after preparing a list of successful intelligence skills that are appropriate to the level of the students and the proposed unit. The sample of the current study consisted of the chemistry curriculum (1) for the first year of secondary school, and (55) female students from the first year of secondary school in the in Afif Governorate. They were selected by a simple random method, and they were divided into two groups: (27) as an experimental group, and (28) as a control group. There are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of the female students of the experimental and control groups in the post-application of the successful intelligence skills test in favor of the female students of the experimental group. The overall effect size (d) reached (0.83) in the successful intelligence skills, and also between the average scores of the experimental group students in favor of the same group’s post-application of successful intelligence skills, and the overall effect size (d) was (3.29) which indicates that the size of the effect of the developed unit is large.
