Abstract

The present study aims at identifying the impediments of intellectual capital development at Thamar University and suggesting methods to overcome them from the point of view of Ph. D researchers in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, Faculty of Education. In addition to that, the researchers tried to investigate whether there are statistically significant differences in the estimates among the respondents for the impediments of intellectual capital development in the university due to the variables (gender and specialization). To achieve that, the researchers used the descriptive approach. The research sample comprised (58) students (males and females) and questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection. and used the appropriate statistical methods and the most important findings of the research are as follows:

- The impediments to the development of intellectual capital at Thamar University in all fields were high.

- The financial impediments are the most important ones affecting the development of intellectual capital at Thamar University, from the point of view of the members of the research sample. This impediment obtained a high score with an average mean (2.72), while organizational impediments obtained the lowest score with an average mean (2.53).

- There does not exist statistically significant differences for the degree of impediments to the development of intellectual capital due to the gender variable in the first and second fields and in the tool as a whole. While there are statistically significant differences in the second field of human impediments in favor of the females.

- There does not exist statistically significant differences for the degree of impediments to the development of intellectual capital attributable to the variable of specialization in all areas and in the tool as a whole.
