Abstract

The study aimed to assess the physical inactivity behavior and its relationship with obesity among students at Dar Al-Uloom University. The study was conducted using a sample of enrolled students in the university, which amounted to 372 participants. Data were collected through a designed scale to measure lifestyle behaviors and physical activity. Body mass index (BMI) was calculated to assess obesity indicators among students. The data were statistically analyzed using means, standard deviations, Pearson correlation coefficient, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed a prevalence of obesity and overweight among 60% of students at Dar Al-Uloom University. Furthermore, the study revealed that students engage in moderate levels of physical inactivity behaviors (lifestyle and physical activity). The results also indicated relationships between physical inactivity behavior (lifestyle and physical activity) and obesity levels among university students. The study recommended the necessity of promoting physical activity among university students to reduce and prevent obesity. It also emphasized the importance of adopting healthy dietary and lifestyle behaviors to prevent obesity. Increasing health awareness regarding healthy lifestyles and proper health behaviors was also advised. Encouraging students to engage in physical activities while reducing sedentary behaviors was highlighted.
