The Degree to which Intermediate First-Grade Female Students in Bisha Province Possess Story Writing Skills

The study aimed to know the degree to which first-year intermediate female students in Bisha Province possess story-writing skills. To fulfill the aim of the study, the researchers used the descriptive approach. A list of story-writing skills suitable for first-year intermediate female students and a test to measure the skills of story-writing were developed. After ensuring its validity and reliability it was applied to a random sample of first-year intermediate female students of (320) students. The results showed that the level of story-writing skills among the female students was moderate. The mean of the correct response frequencies in the test was (0.541), with a percentage of (54.1%). As for the level of proficiency in each skill, the “Story Characters” skill ranked first, with a moderate level. It is followed by the skill of story structure, which ranked second with a moderate level. Next is the skill of story setting, which ranked third with a moderate level, followed by story style, which ranked fourth with a low level. Lastly, the skill of story idea came in fifth place with a low level. Based on these findings, the researchers provided some recommendations, the most important are: Developing the content of story writing topics to ensure that students have clarity in story writing skills, to improve their writing skills. A need to provide various activities that enhance story-writing skills for first-year intermediate female students story-writing skills.Downloads
