Abstract

The importance of this research lies in its contribution to the defense of women in Muslim societies, by explaining what the orientalist Judith Tucker dealt with in her writings about the economic situation of Muslim women, and revealing the mistakes they made. The research aims to introduce the Orientalist Judith Tucker and her most important works, reveal the economic situation of Muslim women according to what was stated in the writings of Judith Tucker, and point out the mistakes she made. The research was divided into an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. An introduction that included the importance of the research, the reasons for choosing it, its objectives, its problem, its limitations, the methodology followed, previous studies, and the structure and division of the research. The first section was titled: Translation of Orientalist Judith Tucker. The second section was titled: The economic situation of Muslim women in the writings of Judith Tucker. Conclusion: The results reached by the research included: Orientalist Judith Tucker believes that women in Muslim societies enjoy economic independence as a result of the rights granted to them, and thus they play an important role in the economic life of the family and society, and that in Judith Tucker’s writings there are wrong interpretations regarding some Issues related to the lives of Muslim women, which involve confusion between Islamic legislation and people’s behavior and customs in dealing with women in Muslim societies. The research was summarized with a list of the sources and references that were relied upon.
