Abstract

The study aimed to identify the levels of emotional intelligence among educational supervisors in the Sultanate of Oman, and to reveal the existence of statistically significant differences in the emotional intelligence of educational supervisors according to the variables of gender, qualification, and subject supervised. A measure of emotional intelligence based on the theory of Mayer and Salovey (1997) was applied to a sample of (173) educational supervisors. The results showed that the levels of emotional intelligence among educational supervisors in the Sultanate of Oman were at a medium level, and the dimensions of emotional intelligence had medium levels of emotional intelligence, except for the dimension of emotion management, which was at a high level. The results of the study also showed that there are statistically significant differences in the responses of male and female supervisors on the emotional intelligence scale in general due to the gender variable in favor of females, and there are no statistically significant differences about the levels of emotional intelligence among educational supervisors according to the variables of academic qualification and the subject they supervise.
