Abstract

This study aimed to identify the degree of contribution of school councils in supporting decision-making from the educational leader's perspective in light of the shift towards decentralization or School-based management. The quantitative descriptive analytical approach has been used as the study methodology. The study sample consisted of (66) school leaders from the general administration of education in the Qassim region. The structured questionnaire has been employed as the study instrument, which contained (22) paragraphs divided into four areas: "leadership of administration operations", "school staff", "student affairs" and "local community service". The findings of this study indicated that the contributions of school councils were varied according to participants' perspectives. It has been "Great" in "leadership of administration operations" while were ""Moderate" in "student affairs" and "local community service". In contrast, these contributions were "little" in dealing with "school staff". Furthermore, it has been found that there were no statistically significant differences between participants' responses depending on the study variables "Gender", "Experience" and " Number of employees". In conclusion, it has been recommended that the empowerment of school level should be supported and enhanced, and find out and deal with any obstacles
