Abstract

This study has dealt with the investigation and explanation of the sin attributed to Yunus, peace be upon him, a critical interpretive study. It is an explanation of the virtue of the Prophet of God Yunus - peace be upon him, his affliction and patience, and God’s care for him and relieving his anguish, as well as a study of the Israeli narratives that the commentators relied on in interpreting the verses of his story -Peace be upon him-, a critical study, through which it was found that they are false narrations. They contradict the Quran and Sunna, and it is not permissible to mention them in the interpretation except to demonstrate their falsehood and falsity. It is agreed upon in the infallibility of the prophets, peace be upon them. The study also has shown the correct meaning of the verses mentioned about him - peace be upon him - in accordance with the indications of the words and context of the Quran, as agreed upon in the infallibility of the prophets, peace be upon them. It has also indicated that the most correct saying regarding the nature of the guilt attributed to Yunus, peace be upon him that it is one of the vague ones that science does not benefit with it, and we are not obligated to search for it, and it cannot be in any deadly sin. This is due to the infallibility of the prophets from deadly sins before and after the mission. The study has also showed that the purpose in afflicting Yunus - peace be upon him - with this great affliction is the elevation of his status with God Almighty, and making him a good example for all nations in patience, steadfastness, and contentment with God’s will and destiny, so that he may obtain the reward for that extended until the Day of Resurrection.
