Abstract

The current research aims to develop an Intellectual Humility Scale and assess the psychometric properties of the scale, including its validity (face validity, construct validity through factor analysis) and reliability (Cronbach's alpha, split-half reliability, test-retest reliability). The study was conducted on a sample of 226 faculty members from King Khalid University in Saudi Arabia, with an average age of 38.06 years and a standard deviation of 6.27. The results indicated high psychometric properties, with exploratory factor analysis revealing saturation of items into 4 factors that explained 58.03% of the total variance: intellectual submission, open-mindedness, error correction susceptibility, and integration. Confirmatory factor analysis also supported the four-factor model, with a non-significant χ² value of 2.32. The scale's reliability was verified using Cronbach's alpha, split-half reliability, and test-retest reliability, indicating that the scale is valid and reliable for application in the Arabic academic environment specifically on university’s faculty members.
