The psychometric properties of Mayer- Salovey- Caruso Emotional Intelligence test at high schools in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The study aimed to achieve a general main objective. which is to study the psychometric properties of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso emotional intelligence test for secondary school students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Secondary school in the Hail region. Where the data was collected from them through the application of the Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) after translating and localizing it to suit the Saudi environment. Its validity and stability were verified. and after applying the questionnaire to the sample members and data collection. where percentages. simple frequencies. arithmetic averages. t-test for independent samples. Spearman's correlation coefficient. (Cronbach's alpha) and others were extracted. where a group of The most important results: The study concluded that the degree of validity and reliability of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso test of emotional intelligence was (high). and there were statistically significant differences at the level (α > 0.05) between the psychometric properties of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso emotional intelligence test on secondary school students. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. with regard to the gender variable. which is in favor of males. there is a positive. direct. medium. statistically significant relationship at the level (α > 0.05) between the scientific level of the respondents and the psychometric properties of the Arabized version of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso emotional intelligence test. One of the most important recommendations is to take advantage of the results of the current study in selecting individuals with positive emotional intelligence among students for rare university majors. and the need to develop emotional intelligence among high school students through practical field training on how to apply the dimensions of emotional intelligence. as well as paying attention to emotional intelligence in all stages of an individual's life. because of its clear importance in success in life and compatibility and adaptation with others.
