Standardization –PRIDE Scale - Gifted Kindergarten ChildrenAbstract
This study aimed to standardize the PRIDE Scale for identifying the gifted kindergarten children in Ibb city and to calculate of validity, reliability and standards indicators. The study sample consisted of (323) boys and girls, aged between (4-5 years), their behavioral characteristics were estimated by their teachers. For data collection, the study used the PRIDE Scale, prepared by (Sylvia Rimm, 1983), and arabisation to Jordanian environment by (Al Russan et al., 1990). The results indicated that the scale has high validity indications and the factor analysis resulted in five factors for the PRIDE scale. The reliability coefficients with split-half- method ranged between (0.56 - 0.88) for subscales and (0.84) for total score. The Cronbach's Alpha coefficients ranged between (0.58 - 0.89) for subscales and (0.91) for total score. The standards were also derived for the scale, the degree that corresponds to the percentile (85) was determined as at least to decide that a child has behavioral characteristics and this is considered to be indicators of his giftedness for both subscales and total score.
