A major component of the cost of a house in developing countries is that of building materials. This is particularly true for low – cost housing and self – help housing schemes. Soil has been and continues to be the most widely used housing construction material. It provides adequate protection against hot and cold weather conditions in view of its high thermal capacity and insulating characteristics. Improve properties of a soil by addition of Portland cement. Portland cement Commonly, this improvement is obtained by making the soil more resistant to slaking and erosion by water. Ordinary Portland cement is used as stabilizer in the proportion of 6 per cent by weight. It was very suitable for block making. Different machines have therefore been developed for the production of stabilized soil blocks. The compressive strengths of stabilized soil blocks are adopted by a large number of countries.
