Abstract

The current study aimed to investigate the quality of academic advising process from the point of view of students at the University of Tabuk in the academic year 2022. The sample consisted of 2760 male and female students from all colleges and branches of the University of Tabuk, who responded to a questionnaire consisting of 25 items distributed over four domains: the academic policies and regulations, the development of student’s academic and professional skills, the development of student’s personal and leadership skills, the relationship between student and academic advisor, and the academic advisor’s skills and competencies. The study found weakness in the majority of the domains. All means fell below the threshold of student satisfaction specified by the researchers, and student satisfaction scores varied between colleges, as statistically significant differences appeared between averages depending on the college variable on all domains and on the quality of academic advising in general. Thus, Taima University College ranked first in the degree of satisfaction on all domains and on the quality of academic advising in general, while College of Sharia and Systems and College of Engineering occupied the last positions in all domains and the quality of academic advising in general. Also, there were differences between responses of male and female students, and they were mostly in favor of female students.
