Recognition of Interpretation and Possible Worlds in Kitab Al-Mawaqif fi ‘ilm Al-Kalam [Positions in Theology] by Aḍūd al- Dīn al- Ījī

Abstract

This study, which is entitled (Recognition of Interpretation and Possible Worlds in Kitab Al-Mawaqif fi ‘ilm Al-Kalam [Positions in Theology] by Aḍūd al- Dīn al- Ījī), deals with the process of perception and its relationship to meaning. It shows the role of perception, the creation of the worlds and enriching them with meanings by Aḍūdal- Dīn al- Ījī, Diving to the depths of the texts of the book; Al-Mawaqif, in order to clarify its contents and purposes, because of its sober language which represents the deep thought of Aḍūd al- Dīn al- Ījī. This dissertation consists of three sections preceded by an Introduction which includes the importance of the topic, the reasons for its selection, literature review of the previous studies, objectives, questions and hypotheses, the research methodology and the difficulties faced by the researcher. The three sections represent the three main topics of the research which are: the first topic deals with the Interpretation, its mechanisms and limits, the second topic is on Representative entities in interpreting belief contexts and the third topic deals with the truth, worlds, and the limits of the mind. The thesis ends with a conclusion which summarizes the findings of the research and followed by a list of bibliography and references.
