Obstacles to using e-learning for students at the Islamic University of Gaza from the students' perspective and a proposed solution

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the obstacles facing the implementation of e-learning from the perspective of students at the Islamic University of Gaza during the October 2023 war on the Gaza Strip and to develop a vision for solving them. The descriptive analytical approach was used, where data was collected by applying an electronic questionnaire to a random stratified sample of (190) male and female students from the College of Education at the Islamic University of Gaza. The results of the study were as follows: The degree of obstacles facing the implementation of e-learning from the perspective of students (79.80%) was high, while the level of obstacles to the employment and use of e-learning by teachers at the Islamic University of Gaza was average, with an arithmetic mean of (µ = 2.896). The results also showed that the level of obstacles to training and qualifying students at the Islamic University of Gaza to use e-learning methods was average, with an arithmetic mean of (µ = 2.717). There were also obstacles related to providing the infrastructure to employ e-learning at the Islamic University of Gaza at a high level, with an arithmetic mean of (µ = 3.782). The results also showed differences Statistically significant differences were found between the average assessments of students' perceptions of the obstacles to e-learning, attributed to the following variables: gender, academic specialization, and academic level. The study recommended the following: The need to hold training courses for student teachers on e-learning, specializing in educational computer applications, as well as holding courses for student teachers on the use of electronic educational tools.
