Students' Tendency Towards Psychology in the Faculty of Education, Taiz University, Turba

This study aims at knowing the level of students' tendency towards Psychology in the Faculty of Education, Taiz University, Turba.
To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher has prepared a tendency scale which consists of 27 items distributed to four fields; Importance of Psychology, Role of Psychology in Solving Problems, Benefit of Psychology, and Enjoyment of Psychology.
After testing the validity and consistency of the scale, it was applied to a random sample of 189 students; males and females who are in the second semester, 2016.
The result of the study have shown the following:
- The level of students' tendency towards Psychology is higher than the proposed level in the scale as a whole and in each field separately. The total average of the grades of students is 72.71 which equals 89.77% while the proposed average was 56.7 which equals 70%.
With regard to the fields, the average of the grades of students in the Importance of Psychology, is 21.44 and in the Enjoyment of Psychology, is 18.20 while in the Role of Psychology in Solving Problems, is 13.82, and in the Benefit of Psychology, is 19.25.
- There are no statistically significant differences in the level (0.05) between the members of the sample, males and females in their tendencies towards Psychology in the scale altogether and in every field except the fourth, the Benefit of Psychology.
- The results have also shown that there are statistically significant differences in the level (0.05) between the members of the sample towards Psychology according to the specialisation variable; scientific studies, humanities and the differences are in favour of literary studies.
