Abstract

Shawqi’s poetic language imposed itself as dominant over those rhymed prose texts, with its abstract characteristics that created the uniqueness of this creative literary work. That poetic faculty was applied to his prose with spontaneity and flow in his signature poetry, generating surprise with its shifts, and with the combination of words in their letters and differences in their meanings, Ahmed Shawqi generated balanced, rhymed sentences. It is no less rhythmic than his distinct poetic rhythms without disruption or breakage, and this was in the gold markets and not in other of Shawqi’s prose writings in particular and other writers in general. It is as if, through these texts, we are faced with a poetic, pictorial, suggestive language, not a news language like the usual news language of prose. Shawqi was able to translate in prose the thoughts, expressions, and life experiences that stirred in souls and chests. His prose included various meanings, images, and various purposes, bringing fruitful results, so the conscientious translator writer became the mouthpiece of everyone without exception. Shawqi’s prose was a reflection of the cultures of a society with the philosophy of the perceiver, the poet’s imagination, and the prose’s approach. Perhaps the outputs of this research will be an inexhaustible resource for those who want to investigate and research in the field of literary philosophy, and who are interested in modern prose full of connotations and rich, uninterrupted contexts.
