The research seeks to study historical symbols and their impact on Darwish's artistic architecture. It addresses literary, philosophical, religious, and cultural symbols in the collection "Don't Apologize for What You've Done," all of which expand the poet's space and give his texts depth of expression and aesthetic dimensions. The problem of the research lies in the diversity of symbols in Darwish's work: characters, places, and events, within the framework of the East and the West, ancient and modern. In his use of these symbols, he is not a neutral figure, nor an observer of experiences, merely serving the artistic framework. Rather, we find him identifying with the symbols in reality and in dreams. What distinguishes Darwish from the world's great poets is his direct connection to and integration with a liberation cause, whose events and transformations he accompanied and whose cultural framework he participated in. The importance of the research lies in tracing and investigating the phenomenon of the use of historical symbols in modern poetry, especially Darwish's. Given the diversity and richness of its uses in his poetry, The research adopts a descriptive and analytical approach by limiting the studied material to a collection that does not apologize for what it has done. The structure of the research consists of an introduction, four sections, and a conclusion. Its themes are as follows: First: Literary Historical Symbols; Second: Philosophical Historical Symbols; Third: Religious Historical Symbols; Fourth: Civilizational Historical Symbols. Among the research findings are: Darwish's use of historical symbols with different connotations that are compatible with the self, positioned and influential in the artistic architecture of the poetic text. This reveals the self's position on them, giving the text significant aesthetic dimensions and making it open to interpretation.Downloads
