Abstract

The study examines the concept and types of textual extraction (al- ), the stance of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaʿah, and the correct methodology for deriving creedal meanings from the Qur’an. It identifies the verses selectively cited by Christians to support the divinity of Christ and analyses their method of decontextualization. Using inductive and critical-analytical approaches, the study finds that such interpretations deviate from sound scholarly method, relying on forced exegesis and imposing meanings unsupported by the text. It concludes that citing the “Word” (al-Kalimah) verses out of context is invalid, and recommends further research on similar uses of Qur’anic verses to support other Christian doctrines.
