Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of self-differentiation and marital quality of life among married individuals in the Sultanate of Oman, to examine the extent to which self-differentiation contributes to predicting marital quality of life, and to investigate differences in self-differentiation and marital quality of life according to the variables of gender, educational level, duration of marriage, and economic status. The study population consisted of all married individuals in the Sultanate of Oman, totaling (1011251) individuals. The study sample included 600 married men and women. The researchers employed the descriptive research method. The study utilized the Brief Differentiation of Self Inventory developed by (Skowron & Schmitt, 2003) and later shortened by (Drake, 2011), as well as the Marital Quality of Life Scale developed by (Wahyuningsih et al., 2013). The findings revealed that the level of self-differentiation was low, whereas the level of marital quality of life was high. The results also indicated no statistically significant differences in self-differentiation according to gender, educational level, duration of marriage, or economic status. However, statistically significant differences were found in marital quality of life according to gender and economic status, while no statistically significant differences were observed in marital quality of life according to educational level or duration of marriage.
