Abstract

     The study aims to identify the role of secondary school principals in reducing school dropout in Al-Raith Education Office from the educational supervisors and teachers' point of view. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher has used the descriptive survey method. The study population consists of all preparatory school teachers and supervisors for boys and girls at Al-Raith Education Office. A sample of (141) teachers and supervisors was taken and a questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection, which consisted of (21) items distributed on three axes.

After conducting the statistical process, the study has found the following results:

  • The approval of the sample members is (high) on the role of school principals regarding the problem of school dropout at preparatory schools in Al-Raith Education Office, with an average of (3.55 out of 4).
  • The approval of the sample members is (high) on the role of preparatory schools principals regarding the reduction of students' dropout phenomenon with an average of (3.36 out of 4.00).
  • The approval of the sample members is (high) on the role of preparatory schools principals regarding teachers' role to reduce the dropout phenomenon among students, with an average of (3.66 out of 4.00).
  • The approval of the sample members is (high) on the role of preparatory schools principals regarding the family's role to reduce the dropout phenomenon among students, with an average of (3.62 out of 4.00).
  • There are no statistical significant differences in the sample members appreciating the role of school principals in facing school dropouts according to the variables of the study, which are: type of administration, job, and years of experience.

     According to these results, a set of recommendations have been recommended, some of which are: Urging school principals in preparatory schools at Al-Raith Education Office to develop a clear and specific process to detect students who are at risk of dropping out. Working to provide additional classes for students who are academically retarded. Directing teachers to avoid the use of physical punishment, paying attention to develop teachers' skills by providing them with the expertise to face students' dropout. Preparing plans in cooperation with the family to help students who are academically retarded. The necessity of issuing awareness brochures to clarify the effects of the dropout problem.
