Women's trends to employing modern raw materials in the formulation of contemporary metal jewelry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

Scientific and technological development in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries has brought about the emergence of new materials and raw materials in all used products, the most important of which is the field of jewelry design to achieve the needs and requirements of users. Since there are no previous studies dealing with identifying the trends of Saudi women towards employing modern materials in the formulation of metal jewelry, the current research aims to determine the trends of the sample members towards employing modern materials in the formulation of contemporary metal jewelry, determining the types of materials used in their formulation, and measuring the impact of this in raising the quality of the design. This research followed the descriptive analytical method, and the study sample consisted of women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the tool used (the questionnaire) was to measure women's attitudes towards employing modern materials in the formulation of contemporary metal jewelry. It was one of the most important search results: the materials are selected that the sample members prefer to add to the metal jewelry, Where the results proved that the use of modern materials in the formulation of contemporary metal jewelry fits the fashion trends and raises the design quality, It also proved that age and educational level do not affect the sample members' tendency towards employing raw materials and their types in metal jewelry, While the social situation affects the direction of the sample members towards the employment of raw materials, but it does not affect the direction of the sample members to the types of added raw materials, It has also been proven that the level of income does not affect the sample members' tendency to employ raw materials in metal jewelry, but it does affect the sample members' tendency to the types of added materials. It is recommended to take advantage of the use of modern materials in metal jewelry pieces to increase the aesthetic value and enrich the creativity process of the metal jewelry designer.
