The urban expansion and its effect On the green ecology in Abha city

Abstract

This investigatory and analytical study deals with the phenomenon of the urban expansion in Abha city and its effect on the green ecology in considered as one of them retrial- social structures which is exposed to ecological disruption where the development and the urban extension which is linked to the urban polarization for Abha city (the capital of the south of Saudi Arabia), formed an increase on the fast tracks for its functional mutations economically and administratively which lead to clear negative effects on the land cover. AS a result, the environmental components of such an ecology were damaged in assertion to the shrink and retreat spaces which until, recently, had been the most important among the elements of tourist and esthetic attraction of Abha city, notably, during the period of 1994-2016. This period was so effective on the above-mentioned Components, besides the burial of several waterways are water tributaries of Abha valley in addition to the appearance of many indicators of other environmental problems of which the decline of the quality of air in Abha city that goes in line with the environmental disruptions caused the urban extension. This research adopted the two methods of ecology and analysis in order to identify the nature of space relationships between the urban expansion and its green ecological environment on a precise basis this study has also diagnosed the various urban encroachments that took place because of the insufficiency in the successive urban plans for Abha city which were made after the arbitrary and loose extension of the city.
