Strategies and Challenges of In Appropriate Behaviors Modification among Students with Intellectual Disability from Teachers Perspective

This study aimed to explore the strategies and challenges to modifying undesirable behaviors of students with intellectual disability from the point of view of teachers in the regions. This study applied a qualitative approach, and the semi-structured interviews were adopted with 5 teachers. The results included, (a) self-directed and others-directed behaviors, (b) methods of behavior modification according to the severity of behavior, (c) obstacles to using behavior modification strategies, (d) the effect of aggressive behavior. In the light of the results, the researcher recommended a number of recommendations and suggestions, most importantly: studying the effect of whether the severity of intellectual disability plays a role in the behavior, studying the impact of the age of people with intellectual disabilities on the effectiveness of the strategies used to modify unwanted behaviors. organizing courses for parents to educate them about the danger of these behaviors to their children, and developing courses for teachers to provide them with appropriate strategies to apply in school.Downloads
