The Reality of Crisis Management in Health Institutions in Taiz City

Abstract

The study aimed to recognize the reality of crisis management in health institutions in Taiz city, and it was applied to public health institutions in the city of Taiz. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytical method was used, and a questionnaire was designed consisting of (25) items distributed over four areas, namely: (planning, leadership skills, communication system, work team). It was distributed to the study sample, which considered of (90) respondents, and they constituted (60%) of the original study population. The study concluded that the degree of estimates of the sample members about the reality of crisis management in public health institutions in the city of Taiz came to a medium degree in all fields, and they were arranged as follows: the field of leadership skills, followed by the field of planning, then the field of team work, and finally the field of communications system. The results of the study also showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the answers of the study sample members due to the study variable represented in: (gender, age, functional degree) in all fields of study, also showed that there were no statistically significant differences due to the (educational qualification) variable in communications system and team work fields, also showed there were statistically significant differences due to the (educational qualification) variable in planning and leadership skills fields, and showed that there were statistically significant differences due to the (years of service) variable in all fields of study. Depending on the findings of the study, the researcher recommends working on enhancing the efficiency of health institutions principals in the fields of study, by holding training courses and specialized workshops in crisis management, and seeking the assistance of experts and specialist from outside the health institution when preparing plans, and forming crisis management teams, in addition to establishing a specialized unit for crisis management in health institutions.
