The Effectiveness of a Brief Counseling Program Based on the Conscious Understanding Method to Enhance Psychological Recovery among Orphan Girls in the Asir Region

Abstract

The current research aimed to determine the effectiveness of a brief counseling program based on the conscious understanding method to enhance psychological recovery among orphan girls in the Asir region. The research sample consisted of (30) orphans, and they were distributed into (15) control groups and (15) experimental groups. Their ages range between (19-22) years, To achieve the research objectives, the psychological recovery scale was used, prepared by (Shaker, 2020), which consists of (32) statements distributed over four areas: life satisfaction, character building, relationships with others, and spiritual and religious changes. A brief counseling program based on the conscious understanding method. It consists of (8) sessions prepared by the researcher. To analyze the research data, the mean, standard deviation, and t-test were used to determine the differences between the pre- and post-measurements for the experimental and control groups. The research results resulted in statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the average scores of the control and experimental groups on the psychological recovery scale after implementing the program, and the difference is in favor of the experimental group. There were also statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the average scores of the experimental group in the pre- and post-applications of the psychological recovery scale, in favor of the application and the post-test. The research also produced a set of recommendations and proposed research.
