Journal Policy
Papers Submission:
1- Papers are to be submitted via the journal's website or via email, and the date of reception is determined on the research.
2- The researcher submits a written undertaken signed by him / her stating that the research has not been previously published or not submitted for publication elsewhere, till reviewing is finished and the research has been published by the journal.
3- The editorial board of the journal evaluates the research according to the norms of the journal, and its approved template before sending it to reviewers, and if there are some insufficiencies, the researcher is notified to do what is required.
4- Sending the research that is worthy reviewing to two expert reviewers in the same specialization in a confidential manner. In case, one of the reviewers rejects the research and the other accepts the research after modification, the research is sent to a third reviewer to decide on the matter either to be published after modification or to be rejected.
5- After the procedures of reviewing, the research is sent back to the researcher. The researcher is notified to make the required modifications in accordance with modification template according to the scientific approach of research promotion or scientific production.
6- After making the modifications by the researcher, they are reviewed by the editor-in-chief of the journal, and presented to the reviewing committee for the second time.
7- If the researcher completes all the required modifications, a publication acceptance certificate will be issued to the author. The certificate will specify the date of revision, publication date, issue number, and month of publication, and this information will also be recorded on the research paper.
8- The research is numbered and placed in the journal template and is ready for publication.
9- The journal is published online, then in paper, and a complete electronic copy of the journal is sent to the researcher. Besides, a copy of the research is sent with the introduction of the journal as an electronic template copy, and the journal is uploaded on the journal website https://hesj.org/ojs/index.php/hesj/index with the (DOI). The electronic copy is uploaded on Taiz University website. It is circulated to the various publishing periodicals.
10- The journal researches are uploaded on Google Scholar.
11- In the case, the researcher does not adhere to the terms and conditions of the scientific publishing of the journal, or does not adhere to the ethics of scientific research, or the research is not new or authentic, it is rejected by the editorial board of the journal or by the reviewing committee. Reasons of rejection are mentioned too.
12- The journal periodically verifies and screens submitted articles and scientific research for plagiarism and academic misconduct.
Papers Reviewing:
1- The research is initially reviewed by the members of the editorial board to decide whether it complies with the publishing rules or if it is eligible to be sent for reviewing. The editor-in-chief may reject it either because it is not related with the journal’s specialization, or because it does not comply with the rules of scholarly publishing.
2- All research papers, submitted to the Journal of Humanities and Educational Sciences at Taiz University, Yemen before publication, are subject to the reviewing process via the website or via the journal's email electronically and confidentially to determine the validity for publication.
3- The reviewer is requested to provide an evaluation of the manuscript according to specific criteria outlined in the evaluation form, including an opinion on whether the research is suitable for publication, unsuitable for publication, or suitable after major or minor revisions, avoiding any personal criticism of the researcher.
4- The research is evaluated according to the attached evaluation form. The reviewing period is stated in the form in which it does not exceed two weeks only, and if it is delayed, the research is sent to another reviewer.
5- The reviewer is requested to fill out the evaluation form, and the required amendments to the text of the research. The reviewer is also required to verify whether the research contains plagiarism, make necessary corrections and amendments, and provide appropriate remarks and comments within the text of the manuscript. In addition, the reviewer should prepare a detailed report addressing points not covered in the evaluation form and provide a final judgment on the manuscript (accepted or not accepted for publication). The report is then submitted to the Editor-in-Chief and subsequently forwarded to the researcher anonymously, without revealing the reviewers’ names, in order for the required revisions to be carried out.
6- The researcher is requested to quickly make the required corrections and send them back to the journal within a maximum period of three weeks, attaching a table of corrections he has made.
7- The corrections made by the researcher are sent to the evaluation committee to consider the case of the researcher's commitment to modify the required corrections.
8- In the case that the reviewers reject the research for publication, a letter of apology will be sent from the editor-in-chief of the journal to the researcher for rejecting the research with the reasons of rejection.
9- If the research is rejected for publication and the researcher wishes to obtain the reviewers’ comments, they may be provided to the author without any obligation on the part of the journal to respond further to the researcher.
10- The researcher is not permitted to resubmit the same research to the journal, even if revisions have been made to it.
11- The journal adopts a double-blind peer-review policy, whereby the author does not know the identity of the reviewer, and the reviewer does not know the identity of the researcher.
Correction and Retraction Policy:
1. If a research paper has been published and uploaded on the journal’s website, and a serious error is later discovered, the article may be corrected by withdrawing the previous version containing the error and replacing it with a revised version.
2. The Directors Board of the Journal of Humanities and Educational Sciences may consider retracting a paper from the journal’s website if there is documented material evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, violation of academic integrity, or any conduct that may damage the journal’s scientific credibility and ethical standards.
3. Retracting the research article may also occur if evidence emerges of a major scientific error that invalidates the study’s findings, or if a violation of the journal’s publication policy is identified.
4. The author shall be informed of the final decision regarding the retraction, and other relevant parties may also be notified if necessary.
5. A formal retraction statement will subsequently be published on the journal’s website.
6. Authors may request the withdrawal of their manuscript before final acceptance for publication, provided that the reasons for withdrawal are clearly stated in writing.
7. The journal welcomes sound criticism of the articles it publishes and remains committed to evaluation and revision to enhance the quality of the journal.
Ethics of Scientific Research:
1- The researcher should be committed to a high academic and professional level in all the steps of research.
2- The researcher should be committed to the standards of scientific publishing ethics, the rules of citations, and referring to the primary and secondary references of the research.
3- The researcher should be committed not to transfer verbatim texts from other sources without attributing them to the reference or source from which they have been cited.
4- Referring to the efforts of all those who participated in the research, as well as acknowledging the sources of material and moral support while doing the research.
5- The researcher should have a prior approval from the university or research center for practical purposes in the field.
6- The researcher should adhere to the guidelines of research submission by the journal. The researcher is committed not to publish any part of the research, in whole or in part, elsewhere.
7- If there is any problem related to interest of the researcher or the journal, the researcher must inform the editor-in-chief.
8- The reviewers are obliged not to use any information or data obtained from the research review for their personal interest, and they must not reveal reviewed data to others.
9- The journal publishes original and unpublished research to maintain the integrity of the scientific studies.
10- The names of the reviewers are kept unknown and their data in a secure database compatible with data security standards.
11- If the research paper is derived from a thesis or dissertation, the researcher must clearly indicate this, paying attention to the ethics of scientific research and respecting the rights of the thesis supervisors and the university where the thesis was conducted.
12- The researcher bears full responsibility if it is found that the manuscript contains an unacceptably high level of plagiarism from the work of others, involves impersonation of another researcher, or has been published in more than one journal or republished without a convincing scientific and legal justification.
13- All opinions expressed in the research papers and studies submitted to the journal do not necessarily reflect the views of the journal or Taiz University, or the Editorial Board. Rather, they represent the views of their respective authors, and the researcher alone bears full responsibility for any errors contained in the research.
Guidelines for Reviewers:
§ Reviewers are requested to provide their evaluation and review of the manuscript according to specific criteria, including: assessing the originality and significance of the study, the extent of its scholarly contribution to the field of specialization, the research methodology, data review and analysis, references and footnotes, the soundness of logical order, language, and conclusions and the absence of errors. The extent to which the manuscript complies with the journal’s scholarly publication requirements is a must.
§ Reviewers should provide a detailed evaluation that highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the research, along with recommendations for improving the manuscript.
§ Reviewers are expected to state clearly whether the manuscript is suitable for publication in its current form, suitable for publication after major or minor revisions, or unsuitable for publication.
§ The peer-review process should not exceed two weeks from the date the manuscript is received.
§ The journal provides a financial payment for reviewing manuscripts.
§ Reviewers must not share the manuscript content outside the peer-review process.
§ Reviewers should avoid any conflicts of double interests.
§ Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality and protect academic information. Reviewers must not share or discuss the manuscript with anyone outside the review process unless authorized by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.
§ Manuscripts should be reviewed objectively, and comments should be written clearly and professionally, avoiding any personal criticism of the author.
