The Deadly Words: An Applied Study of the Words (Disbelief, Backbiting, and Slander) in Light of the Holy Qur’an

Abstract

The research discussed the topic of deadly words, an applied study of the words "kufr, ghibbah, and ifk" in light of the Holy Quran. The research aimed to define deadly words and collect and study the Quranic verses mentioned in "kufr, ghibbah, and ifk" in addition to stating the effects resulting from these words. The researcher relied on the descriptive analytical approach in the research. Among the results of the research is that if the tongue is used to unite the nation and spread goodness among them, it is a useful tool for Muslims. Thus, it achieves enjoining good and forbidding evil. If it is used to divide the Islamic nation, it is a harmful tool for the individual and society. One of the most influential words is the word of disbelief, because it makes its owner eternal in Hell and causes humiliation in this world and disgrace before Allah in the Hereafter. Disbelief leads its owner to the sources of destruction and ruin, and it is a tool of destruction in the society in which he lives, even if the disbeliever claims that he is a reformer. Among the effects and harms resulting from backbiting is that its owner is tormented in Hell by eating filthy, foul food, and receives Allah’s punishment in his grave. The lights of his faith and the traces of his Islam are lost, and he is not forgiven until the backbiter forgives him. Backbiting is also a destructive tool and widespread evil, and it harms and causes damage, and brings about discord and alienation. It is a social disease that severs the bonds of love between Muslims. Among the effects and harms resulting from slander is that it spreads corruption in society, and it is evidence of weakness in religion and lack of fear of the Lord of the Worlds. It severs the bonds of kinship, tears apart families, and through it honor is violated. It also causes hatred of Allah, the Messenger, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, and the believers. Among the recommendations: I recommend that researchers pay attention to the words of the Holy Qur’an, and study them objectively in light of the Qur’an. I also recommend that researchers track down Qur’anic.
