Family Crisis Management and its Role in Achieving Family Cohesion and Belonging among Prisons Inmates

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the role of family crisis management in achieving family cohesion and belonging among prison inmates in Hail Prison. To achieve this, the descriptive approach was followed. The study used a questionnaire consisting of the following scales: (Family Crises Questionnaire, Family Crisis Management Questionnaire, Family Cohesion Scale, and Sense of Belonging to the Family Scale) applied to a random sample of (149) inmates from Hail Prison in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The results showed that the general arithmetic mean of the level of (Family Crisis Management) was at a medium level, and it was shown that the prevalence rates of family crises among prison inmates were at a medium level. It was also shown that the level of family cohesion among prison inmates was at a medium level, and it was shown that the level of family belonging among prison inmates was at a medium level. A statistically significant correlation was found between family crisis management and family cohesion among prison inmates. A strong positive relationship was also found between "family crisis management" and "family belonging." The stronger the relationship, the more likely individuals are to respond positively to crises they may face. The study recommended identifying the types of family crises among families of prison inmates and developing treatment programs to address them. It also recommended actively involving prison inmates in daily activities to strengthen family relationships and enhance communication between them. It also recommended working to foster strong family belonging among prison inmates and encouraging positive responses to crises.
