The Empowerment Strategy as a Mechanism for Guiding Women subjected to domestic violence to Reduce Social Isolation and Enhance Social Integration in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Descriptive Field Study

Abstract

The present study aims to examine the extent to which the empowerment strategy contributes to reducing social isolation and enhancing social integration among women subjected to domestic violence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It also seeks to identify the challenges hindering the implementation of this strategy and present the most prominent proposed approaches for adopting women’s empowerment from the perspective of female social workers. The study used a descriptive–analytical method and a social survey applied to female social workers in governmental, non-governmental, and charitable institutions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A questionnaire was distributed to a sample of (52) social workers. The results indicated strong agreement on the empowerment strategy's effectiveness in reducing social isolation and promoting integration among domestic violence victims. There was also consensus on the challenges hindering its effective implementation, highlighting awareness of obstacles to empowering abused women. Furthermore, agreement on proposed approaches to adopting empowerment as a key strategy reflects a growing belief in its importance for enhancing community participation and addressing the issues faced by these women. The study recommeded establishing a cooperative framework between the Ministry of Human Resources, charitable organizations, universities, and the private sector to activate community partnerships.
