Abstract

This study dealt with the issue of population and agriculture development in the southern and eastern governorates of the republic of Yemen. Therefore, it aims at revealing the geographical reality of agriculture development and its relationships to population distribution. This study has been divided into three axes: the first axes dealt with the geographical natural and human components of agriculture development, the second axes dealt with the issue of the relationships between population and the area of agricultural land, and the third axes dealt with the relationships between population and agricultural production in its two parts (plant and animal) through spatial analysis for a number of development indicators that reflect the reality of spatial relations between population and agriculture development.

This study reached a number of results. Most of them indicate the absence of real agriculture development, as evidenced by decline in most agriculture indicators. The study concluded with a number of recommendations that would improve the situation of agriculture production in relation to time and place for the purpose of achieving sustainable agricultural development
