Abstract

This study deals with the Diwan of Abu Al-Shamkmak, the Abbasid folk poet, with the aim of revealing the stylistic and rhetorical features that reflect the folk poetry of the Abbasid era. ‏It appeared that Al-Shamakmak’s Diwan reflects the public class in various styles and many topics in description, praise, satire, and begging.

The ironic tone was the dominant artistic feature in his Diwan.
