Abstract

This research aims to know the foundations on which Western civilization and its culture were built, and the depth of its influence on the ancient civilizations that dominated its various countries since its inception. And clarifying the great impact of the Greek and Roman civilizations on these societies religiously, politically, intellectually, and socially, and explaining the impact of church rule on Western societies later, the role of the religious and scientific revolutions opposing them, and the extent of their contributions to the crystallization of secular thought. The researcher followed the descriptive approach in narrating information about the subject. And with it the redemptive historical approach. Among the most important results: the emergence of powerful influences in the formation of Western civilization, culture, and thought, such as: the Greek and Roman civilizations, then the Christian religion, the transformations of the Church, and the emergence of scientific, political, economic, and religious revolutions. Among the most important recommendations: conducting a deep and broad study in this field by searching their libraries and studying their writings, and this will not be fully accomplished without learning one of their languages.
