Abstract

This research deals with one of the Mu’tazila theologians, Shams al-Din Abd al-Samad al-Damghani, one of the scholars of the eighth century AH. Who wrote a book entitled: (al-Jawharah al-khāliṣah ʻan al-shawāʼib fī al-ʻaqāʼid al-manqūmah ʻalá jamīʻ al-madhāhib). In it, he criticized the majority of the Islamic sects, including the Sunni sect, and among the things he found objectionable about them was their doctrine of the word of Allah; yet, in his criticism of their doctrine, he did not differentiate between it nor distinguish it from the Ash’ari doctrine. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to explain the doctrines of the theological groups regarding the word of Allah, the doctrine of the Sunnis and the community, and defending the Sunnis in what was falsely attributed to them. And the charges leveled against Al-Damghani in this matter, supported by the Sunni sayings from their sources, which provided additional evidence. The research comprises the following: - An introduction outlining the importance of the subject, the reasons for choosing it, previous studies, research questions, and the research methodology. The research included two sections, each section had a number of requirements. - The conclusion: It contains the most prominent findings and recommendations. - Then the indexes.
