Abstract

The study aims at identifying the level of separation anxiety among kindergarten children in Taiz City from the perspectives of mothers. Moreover, it aims at identifying the significant differences in the mean scores of the sample members on the separation anxiety scale according to the variables of gender, birth order, and educational level of mother. To collect the data, the researcher has developed a Separation Anxiety Scale and extracted its psychometric properties which indicated that the scale is highly valid and reliable. The scale was administered to (100) mothers of 4-6 years old children (51 boys and 49 girls) from kindergarten children enrolled in 6 kindergartens - Taiz City using cluster random sampling technique. The results of the study have revealed that the level of separation anxiety among kindergarten children in Taiz City is low. The results also have revealed that there are statistically significant differences at the level of significance (0.01) in the level of separation anxiety among kindergarten children according to the variable of gender in favor of females. However, there are no statistically significant differences according to the variables of birth order or educational level of mother.
