The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of semantic mapping strategy in developing reading comprehension skills for intermediate school female students. The quasi-experimental design involved to experimental method was used. The study sample consisted of (38) female students and divided into two groups: first, a control group (N=19) and second, an experimental group (N=19). To accomplish the study objectives, a reading comprehension test was prepared. The data collected was analyzed using Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon test. The findings of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences at (0.05) level between the mean rank of the experimental group and the control group in the post-test in each skill of forthright comprehension, referential comprehension, critical comprehension, palatalizing comprehension and creative comprehension separately and overall of reading comprehension skills in favor of the experimental group. Also there were statistically significant differences at (0.05) level between mean rank of the experimental group in pretest and posttest in favor of post-test.
